Hi Friend!

My name is Janille, and I’m a Connector. It’s really hard to sum up the things that make me who I am, but here’s a little bit about me. I am a wife to a man who draws passion, truth and awesomeness out of me. I’m a mother to four beautiful children that give me life and try to sabotage mine at the same time.

I am a loyal friend and pursuer of truth. I am a first generation Antiguan woman that has followed Christ longer than I’ve done anything else. I am a powerful step dancer and aspirational line dancer. I love donuts and free things.

I am driven by love, my purpose and passion. I teach in schools, rock stages and love to talk to strangers in the street.

I am a jack of all trades, a masterful one (see what I did there?).  I like to frolic, laugh, participate in shenanigans and be free. I try to be as present as I can in the moment and bring truth and encouragement to my interactions.

My Background

I am a certified life coach specializing in connection and relationships, and I have a Ed.M and MA in Psychological Counseling. I am a space creator, connector and affectionately known as “everybody's best friend”. Wherever I go, I create a sense of joy, warmth and safety. Born to immigrant parents in Boston, I spent my formative years living in Boston and Antigua. Growing up, I felt misunderstood, disconnected from my parents and battled low self-esteem. When I became a Christian, I began to understand belonging, love and acceptance and heal from the feelings of low self worth that I’d been experiencing. As I healed (and continue to heal, let’s be real) it became my mission to share the truth that we are loved and valued simply because we exist.

I realized that I had a gift to connect with almost anyone and could understand people and hold space for them well. I wanted to grow in my gift, so I committed to learning and practicing the skills that felt innate. I went to Lesley University where I studied Counseling Psychology and then went on to get my Ed.M and MA in Psychological Counseling from Columbia University. After graduating and starting a family with my husband Khalid, I started the work of intentionally creating space and seeing people through their hardships as a life coach.

In 2018 I founded Street Connect, a video series of conversations between strangers in NYC with the hope of eradicating loneliness and increasing connection through honest meaningful conversations.  I hold space for people to be seen and offer my presence with no strings attached. Doing this work has deepened my sense of commitment to the people of New York and affirmed the importance of creating spaces for people to be seen and feel known.
